Homemade Almond Milk

Try this homemade almond milk recipe with variations for healthy and delicious vanilla or chocolate almond milk as well. This milk is a simple addition that can be used in smoothies, on oatmeal or cereal, or in baking or cooking.

Equipment

Ingredients

  • 1 cup raw almonds soaked for 4 hours or overnight
  • 6 cups filtered water
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract optional for vanilla almond milk, see variations below

Instructions

  • Strain soaked almonds and rinse
  • Blend almonds and water in blender until well blended
  • Pour almond milk into milk bag and strain solids from liquids, squeezing bag to get most of the liquids out.
  • Pour into glass jars

Notes

There are many delicious variations for this almond milk. Here are a few to try: 
  • If you want vanilla almond milk, add a teaspoon of vanilla.
  • For sweetened milk, add 1-2 teaspoons of maple syrup or 3-5 dates to the blender.
  • If you want chocolate milk, add a banana or maple syrup, and 2-3 teaspoons of raw cacao powder.
  • Add cinnamon to any of these variations to spice it up.
Will store in the refrigerator for approximately 4 days.
